We've got great classes and events, but first please read these answers to our Frequently Asked Questions.

  1. If you have questions that are not answered in the descriptions, please email your questions to Susan Fakhrai, our Classes Coordinator.
  2. If you already know how to sew, scroll through our classes and events below and just pick the one (or two) that seems like a fit for you.
  3. If you have never sewn (or have forgotten just about everything), we suggest that you sign up for the Hip Stitch Beginning Basics Sewing Class. We cap it at 4 students, so you'll get plenty of instructor attention. If you have a sewing machine--bring it. Otherwise, let us know that you want to borrow one of ours when you purchase the class.
  4. If you want one-on-one help to either get started or on something specific (for example, "how do I hem my pants?", sign up for a private lesson. We offer them in one-hour increments and the cost is $25 per hour. Please email your request to Susan Fakhrai  and she'll arrange a teacher/time for you.
  5. If  you've taken our Beginning Basics Sewing Class and want to learn how to make fabulous quilts, we recommend that you start with our Hip Stitch Beginning Quilting 1: Hotpad Runner class. You'll not only learn to use a rotary cutter, but also walk a way with a hot pad!
  6. If you've already started a project and you just want a little bit of hand-holding, you can sign up for our Bralia Mease Sunday Sew-in, usually offered on the 4th Sunday of the month or you can sign up for our Hip Stitch Craftnight, usually offered the 4th Friday of the month. For either of these, bring your project, your tools (or use ours) and our staff will help you and answer questions.
  7. Please note, we frequently take pictures of our classes to share the excitement on social media. If you are taking a class with us and don't want to be in a picture, please stand aside and let the photographer know.
  8. Note: if you're bringing your own machine, we ask that you make sure it's in good, working condition.
  9. Cancellation: If you need to cancel your spot in a class, please do so at least 7 days in advance and we will issue you a store credit.  If you cancel less than 7 days in advance of the class, you forfeit your class fee.  If a class hasn't met a minimum of 2 students, Hip Stitch reserves the right to cancel 72 hours ahead in order to let our teachers adjust their schedules accordingly, and a refund will be issued. There are NO refunds or store credit given at any time for classes with out of town instructors or special guest instructors. Your seat may be transferred to a friend if you cannot attend.
