Charity Sewing: Basket of Hope

Through the generosity of donors, Basket of Hope provides gifts to children diagnosed with cancer or other serious illness. Gift baskets and/or tote bags are delivered to hospitalized children throughout the United States by sports celebrities and volunteers. During these sessions, Hip Stitch makes pillowcases to be included in these gifts. You don't have to sew to volunteer, we need folks to press and cut as well!

Sewing for Shelter Pets: Join host Ania and our group of volunteers the fourth Wednesday of each month to help make blankets/quilts for our furry friends at Animal Humane. We need volunteers to cut fabric, sew, bind, etc. If you plan to sew, please bring your own machine. Blanket material requirements have been updated, please check the long description for more details.

Come work on your scrappy sewing project(s) with friends on this scrappy sew day! Feel free to bring an in-progress scrappy project to work on or start a new one. Want a real challenge? Don't bring any fabric, just sew from our baskets of color-sorted scraps! Bring a snack/beverage to share and have sew much fun! Want to share some of your quilting cotton scraps? You can bring a gallon sized baggie of scraps to share, and at the end of the event you can fill your baggie with scraps to take home.

Charity Sewing: Preemie Pillows

Join our volunteer group and Becky to help make positioning pillows for premature babies in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at UNM Hospital. We need volunteers to cut fabric, trace patterns, sew and stuff pillows! In this group, we won't be giving instructions on how to sew or how to use a sewing machine. Do be sure you already know your basics if you'd like to sew and please bring your own machine. Free to participate, but please register as space is limited in our classroom!
