Beyond the Basics – Pants No. 1

Take your sewing skills to the next level in this fun and practical class with instructor Celina Rosales. We’ll be stitching up Pants #1 from 100 Acts of Sewing.  A relaxed-fit pajama pant with an elastic waistband and generous leg room, making it an excellent next step for beginners.

These pants are comfy enough for lounging, cute enough for errands, and packable enough for your next trip. Whether it’s loungewear, sleepwear, or your new go-to weekend uniform, you'll love how simple and stylish they are to make!

NOTES: 
*Please purchase and pre-wash your fabric BEFORE class:
XS - S: 2 3/8 yards (2.2 m); M - XL: 2 1/2 yards (2.3 m);  2X-5X: 2 3/4 yards (2.5 m)
*Please have your pattern pieces traced/cut out and bring to class.
*If you've never read a pattern before, we recommend taking our Pattern Reading class to familiarize yourself with some basic terminology.

Note: You’re welcome to bring snacks and drinks, but please keep all food and beverages in the classroom or kitchen area.


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: This is class is perfect for Advanced Beginner Sewists and beyond. Students should know how to use a rotary cutter and/or fabric scissors, sew basic seams, and be familiar with your machine and how to thread, change bobbin, etc. If you are new to sewing or would like to brush up on your basic skills, please enroll in our Hip Stitch Basics class.
Materials Included: Pattern included in class price
Requirements: Please bring a sewing machine you know and are comfortable using, machine accessories such as feet, bobbins, needles thread, etc. If you need to use one of our machines, please let us know when you register. Students get 15% off fabric/notions, etc purchased day of class (excludes machines and Hip Stitch exclusive fabrics). Instructor: Celina Rosales
Instructor Bio: Celina has been sewing and designing for over 30 years. Her amazing mother taught her how to sew at the age of seven and Celina instantly fell in love with the craft. She studied costume design for the performing arts at the University of New Mexico and worked in theatre and film projects while in college. She was chosen as the head costume designer on a student collaborative theatre play for UNM her senior year. She also worked in wardrobe and makeup artistry for theatre for a few years. In 2017 life took her abroad where she became a sewing teacher for military families on the military base in Okinawa Japan. She also headed her own small alterations and makeup business while living abroad. She found joy in teaching others how to sew and has been teaching ever since. Celina has made it her mission to leave her legacy in the sewing community as a teacher and mentor to others seeking to enjoy the wonderful world of sewing and design.
