Charity Sewing: Creature Comforts

Sewing for Shelter Pets: 4th Wednesday of each month
Join host Ania and our group of volunteers to help make blankets/quilts for our furry friends at Animal Humane.
We need volunteers to cut fabric, sew, bind, etc. If you plan to sew, please bring your own machine.

Not able to make it to the sew-ins but still want to help? Donations of fleece and fabric are welcome (running yardage preferred, but remnants of at least 21in wide by wof accepted). Preferred fabrics are fleece and flannel (quilting cottons and cordoroy/denim also ok - no stretch fabrics please). You can contact julia.hipstitchabq@gmail.com with questions regarding what donations can be accepted.

Measurement guidelines for Animal Humane blankets ("finished"):

CATS: Large - 28"x28" ; Small - 22"x22" - Batting OK
DOGS*: Large - 26"x40"; Small - 20"x30" - No batting allowed
*Batting/stuffing is only allowed in CAT BLANKET sizes. Please do NOT use batting in dog blanket sizes. Unfortunately, we cannot accept "tied" fleece blankets, because they tempt the animals to chew.

Requirements: Measurement guidelines for Animal Humane blankets ("finished"): CATS: Large - 28"x28" ; Small - 22"x22" DOGS: Large - 26"x40"; Small - 20"x30". *No batting/stuffing in blankets, please. No "tied" fleece blankets. Instead of batting/stuffing for blankets, you may include a middle layer that consists of a single piece of fleece, quilt cotton, flannel, or towel. This is an excellent opportunity to upcycle older clean cotton/flannel sheets or towels that still have some usable life left in them! Unfortunately, we will not be accepting "tied" fleece blankets, because they tempt the animals to chew on their blankets.
