"In the Dog House" Improv Piecing Workshop
In the Doghouse with Ann Magetteri
Join Ann Magetteri for another inspiring all-day workshop! Do you tend to collect fabrics featuring certain animals, insects, flowers, or themes? Ann is a dog person. Maybe you're a cat person, or perhaps you're drawn to florals.
Choose a focus fabric that represents someone special (maybe that’s you!). But don’t feel limited to a single subject. Let your imagination guide your design as you build your quilt houses and see what unfolds in the classroom.
“In the Doghouse” quilts can be made entirely from scraps and orphan blocks or crafted with brand-new fabrics. There’s no formal pattern. Just a flexible plan and a spirit of adventure. No rules, no limits! Each quilt will be as unique as its maker.
Improvisation is a joyful journey of creation, and Ann, along with the Hip Stitch team, is here to help you take that first step. Bring your scraps (for yourself and to share), your lunch and snacks (sharing is encouraged), and your creative energy!
Light refreshments will be provided. Come join the fun, and let’s make something magical together.

| Skill Details: | This is class is perfect for Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Sewists. Students should know how to use a rotary cutter and fabric scissors, sew basic seams, and be familiar with your machine and how to thread, change bobbin, etc. If you are new to sewing or would like to brush up on your basic skills, please enroll in our Hip Stitch Basics class. |
| Materials Included: | Classroom cutting mats, irons & ironing boards, and design walls will be available for shared use during this workshop. |
| Requirements: | Please bring a sewing machine you know and are comfortable using. If you need to use one of our machines, please let us know when you register. Bring scraps/orphan blocks to use and to share! |
