Thread Academy #3

Thread is often taken for granted by sewists. It can add beauty to projects with the right know-how. These classes explore creative and aesthetic qualities thread choices can achieve.

Part 3 on May 2 is needlelace
You don't need a computerized embroidery machine to make open thread work designs. Learning how to make needle lace adds another skill set that can be useful for art quilts.

Supplies
Sewing machine with a free motion presser foot and an open toe applique foot
A machine embroidery hoop
Wash away stabilizer made for embroidery (Solvy, Kimberbell Wash Away, etc)
Fine tip permanent marker
Pretty threads
Needles, Topstitch 80 and 90

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Knowledge of your machine is required, as well as beginning sewing skills (have completed projects, can change feet on machine, understand seam allowances.)
Instructor: Becky Welch
Instructor Bio: Becky Welch has been quilting for 39 years (she started when she was pregnant with her 1st child!). Her very first quilt was a Triple Rail Fence. She loves to put her memories and sentiments into her quilts, and to fill her 'tool box' of skills so she can then pass them on to others.
