Singer Featherweight 221 Foot Pedal, new manufacture. This foot pedal is fully electronic and built with solid-state transistor technology. Much lighter weight than the original Bakelite with ceramic insulation and carbon piles, but also far less fragile and prone to breakage. There's a reason that Featherweight experts caution owners to treat their foot pedal like a china tea cup -- both the Bakelite and the ceramic inside are fairly brittle. 

This newer style foot pedal doesn't rely on a single large button, but the entire top can be pushed down.

Foot pedals are tested and warranted for a full year.
